Sta. Cruz Receives 2nd Tranche for 2015 DILG-BUB Locally-Funded Projects

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zambales led by Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, awarded the 2nd tranche of DILG Locally-Funded Projects for BuB 2015 of Sta. Cruz, Zambales worth Php 762,900.00, last April 27, 2016 at the DILG Provincial Office, Iba, Zambales. It was received by Engr. Jojo Meridor, MPDO, witnessed by Ms. Diana Ocampo, Clerk III from the Municipal Treasurer’s Office, Ms. Jane Nilo, 4Ps Parent Leader and LPRAP signatory and OIC-MLGOO Reden Morris M. Vergara.
The awarded funds is the 2nd tranche or 100%, of the total allotment amounting to Three Million Eight Hundred Fourteen Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (P 3,814,500.00) intended for the two (2) identified BuB projects funded by the DILG namely, the Rehabilitation of the Sea Wall along Public Market and the Construction of Drainage System along N. Ela and N. Mose Street located at Poblacion South, Sta. Cruz, Zambales. Said projects are expected to be completed on the 2nd Quarter 2016.
LGU-Sta. Cruz is one of the pilot municipalities targeted by the DILG for the implementation of the Bottom-up Budgeting Program last 2014. As of this date, a total of Php 42,500,000.00 worth of projects, chosen by the different CSOs in the locality, was allocated and to be enjoyed by the people of Sta. Cruz, Zambales since the start of the program.
Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) is a program of the current administration that aims to alleviate poverty in the country and strengthen collaborative governance with the private sector as part of the “Daang-Matuwid”. Before, planning was solely lodged at the National Government but because of the said program, the people of the community was given a voice in identifying programs and projects that will truly answer their needs in the community.
Subic Joins 2016 Pagyanig Challenge

The Municipality of Subic through its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRMC) under the supervision and leadership of Mayor Jay F. Khonghun joined the First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on April 21, 2016 dubbed as the 2016 Pagyanig Challenge. Duck, Cover and Hold was strictly followed by all municipal employees and the 16 barangays of Subic. PNP, BFP and the Subic Public Order and Safety Office (SPOSO) Rescue Team likewise performed search and rescue to the injured personnel as part of the drill.
The quarterly conduct of drills aims to prepare the Local Government Units in responding to different types of disasters. The activity was concluded with a sharing of observations from the participants as well as from the DRRMO Ricardo F. Otero, Jr. and the team who led the drill on the areas for improvement to ensure the security and safety of the people during disasters.
SAN MARCELINO INAUGURATES THE 2014 SALINTUBIG PROJECT

The Municipality of San Marcelino conducted the inauguration ceremony of the Level III Water Supply System Project funded under the 2014 Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat (SALINTUBIG) Program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on April 19, 2016. The 1st part of the activity was held at the pumping station at Barangay Linusungan, while the 2nd part was held at the Covered Court of Barangay Nagbunga. In attendance from DILG Region III were Regional Director Florida M. Dijan, DPA, CESO III, Zambales Provincial Director Armi V. Bactad, CESO V, LG-CDD Chief Jeffrey S. Manalastas, MLGOO Engr. Lee Allen B. Pineda and SALINTUBIG Regional Focal Person Engr. Billy Abalus. Also in attendance were the officials of San Marcelino Water District headed by their General Manager Ms. Lyn Villena. Municipal Mayor Jose F. Rodriguez together with MPDC Mr. Gilbert N. Villena, Linusungan Punong Barangay Patrocenio A. Ragadio, Nagbunga Punong Barangay Henry R. Dacayo and their Sangguniang Barangay Members hosted the program.
